Make Your Own Glass Heart for Valentine’s Day
Surprise your sweetheart with a unique glass heart handmade by you, or bring your partner along to enjoy this creative and romantic experience together. These hearts make excellent paperweights as they are heavy.
Each place costs £75 per person and payment is required with booking.
This is an exciting, hands-on workshop. You will make your own solid glass heart paperweight to keep and treasure, or to give as a gift.
If you want to make more than one heart, you can book more than one space. There isn’t really a limit, but if you want to make more than 10, we could arrange a special session for you.
The cost of the glass heart is included in the course price.
The course is open to adults and children aged 9 and over. Children aged between 9 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
At Adam Aaronson’s glassmaking studio in West Horsley, Surrey, this glass making short taster course is an exciting and intensive experience. We’ve planned it to introduce beginners to the wonders of hot glass. You don’t need to have any experience as you will be guided every step of the way. Please see the calendar for available dates.
Our Make A Valentine Glass Heart glassmaking short taster course lasts around 90 minutes and generally caters for up to 8 people.
We start each session with a safety briefing. Then Adam Aaronson gives a demonstration showing the method that each person will use to make the item of their choice, with assistance from Adam and one of his assistants.
You will choose your colours and style, and work in turn on an individual basis with Adam and his assistant to create your unique piece.
We adapt to each individual’s ability, giving you more or less assistance as required. This event is great fun to do on your own or together with a group of family and friends.
If you would like to make more than one heart, just book two or more spaces.
You can book online using the Book Now button above. If you have any questions please call us on 01483 375035 or email studio@adamaaronson.com
Please note that, as with all hot glass items, we need to anneal your paperweight overnight, so they will usually be available for collection a week later or you can pay online for us to send your work to you (see Delivery section).
We also have longer, more intensive, beginners’ glassblowing courses most weekends – see here.
If you have a short taster course voucher you can use this towards a half day course and pay the balance if you prefer. You can also use a bauble course voucher towards the taste course and pay the balance. You need to email us to arrange the upgrade as the website only registers the voucher against the exact course it relates to.
Terms and Conditions
Enrolment:
Places on a course are only secured on receipt of full payment, with booking via our online calendar.
Confirmation:
You will receive an email confirmation of your online booking. Pre-course/event information will usually be sent by email in advance including information on anything that you may need to bring.
What to Wear:
All safety equipment and materials are provided.
Please dress appropriately for a hot workshop environment. We recommend sturdy flat enclosed shoes (trainers are ideal, no sandals or flip flops), jeans or long trousers and a long-sleeved T-shirt or shirt. Natural fibres are best for a hot environment. Please tie back long hair and remove jewellery that might get caught on equipment.
Cancellations:
If you cancel a glassblowing short taster course four weeks or more in advance of the course date, we offer a 70% refund or one free date change. We offer a 50% refund, or one date change with a £15 administration fee if you cancel between two and four weeks in advance of the date. If we receive less than two weeks’ notice, we are unable to offer a refund or date change. Once you have requested a date change and we have confirmed it, we cannot offer any further refunds or date changes on a subsequent cancellation for the same booking.
Coursework/materials:
Courses are inclusive of all basic materials and safety equipment. All items produced on the course by students are theirs to keep.
Delivery Of Coursework:
Your glass heart needs to anneal in a kiln overnight. Our team will then grind and polish the base before signing it with your name and a special message for the recipient if requested, so usually you can collect your work a few days later. Alternatively, we can arrange delivery to a UK address – this usually costs £20 including packing and packaging materials. If your piece is larger or particularly fragile, the delivery cost may be more.
Class Size:
Class sizes are usually a maximum of eight people, but sometimes there may be more or less participants.
Safety Briefing:
All courses begin with a detailed safety briefing and all students are asked to sign a form confirming they have listened to, and understood, the briefing.
Postponement:
Adam Aaronson Glass Studio reserves the right to postpone, or cancel the date of courses should it become necessary and for whatever reason. Students will be notified as soon as possible and alternative dates will be arranged or a full refund given.
Course Admission:
Adam Aaronson Glass Studio reserves the right to refuse to admit any person who in our opinion is not in a condition to safely undertake the course. We also reserve the right to terminate a course, or exclude an individual, for any improper or unacceptable behaviour. Should this be the case, no fees will be refunded.
Photography:
We reserve the right to use on our website, or for publicity purposes, any photographs we might take during a course, including those of course participants. Students may take photographs during the course where safety permits.
