| ADAM AARONSON I am inspired by the ceaseless mutability of light on the landscape, the sky and on water. I am fascinated by horizons, the vanishing point where the land merges with the sky. Glass is the ideal medium to express this idea of continual change since its properties are inherently mutable, not only in its molten state but also in the way the play of light creates endless nuances in the finished piece. Adam has been at the heart of British studio glass for more than 25 years, firstly as a gallerist and subsequently as an artist in his own right, learning glass later in his career and developing self-taught methods. In 1996, Adam established his current glass blowing studio in Earl’s Court, London. Adam specialises in free blown glass. His vessels and sculptures are at once a celebration of the simplicity of pure form, and also an investigation into layering. His coloured patinas draw on painterly techniques but are predominately inspired by a love of natural landscapes and waterscapes.
